Mohammed and I travelled from the UK to Gaza this September to reconnect with our parents that we haven’t seen in such a long time. The day we crossed the Palestinian Rafah border I have been welcomed by my father, who took us home to ‘Burj Zahret Al Madaen’.

 Going back to visit My homeland Palestine  felt very vivid and surreal,  like my childhood memories.

 I used to come back home from school rushing to eat something because im so hungry so I start knocking on the door impatiently. 

And so I did knock the door, This time with my Brother Mohammed.

Mama , Mama i’m here let me in. we were welcomed into a surprise reception in my Mama’s flat that included my mum’s side of the family who came all the way from khan Younis to welcome me and Mohammed after a long journey from The UK to Gaza. Time flew by quickly with my family who were happy to see me and my cousins who I haven’t seen in such a long time as the last time ive been to Gaza was in over 10 years…
